Man dies after being hit by two vehicles at industrial estate in Acrington

A man has tragically died after being crushed between two vehicles at an industrial estate, prompting an investigation.

Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance, responded to the incident, which occurred around 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, at Moorfield Industrial Estate, off Burnley Road in Altham.

Authorities are working to notify the man’s next of kin, and both the police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have launched a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A police spokesperson stated: “We received a call from the ambulance service at approximately 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, reporting an industrial accident on Moorfield Drive, Altham.

A man had become trapped between two vehicles and suffered fatal injuries. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this extremely difficult time. Efforts are being made to contact his next of kin, and a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive is now underway.”

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service reported that three fire engines from Hyndburn, Padiham, and Chorley, along with an Urban Search and Rescue Team, provided assistance to the North West Ambulance Service and police in stabilizing and recovering a vehicle involved in the incident.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has been notified and is conducting inquiries into the matter. A spokesperson for the HSE stated: “We are aware of the incident and are making inquiries.”
