NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Highly touted 2026 recruit Cole Cloer, a four-star wing from Greensboro, North Carolina, is showing growing interest in the University of Louisville. After including the Cardinals in his recently released top eight schools, Cloer confirmed during last week’s Nike Peach Jam that he will take an official visit to Louisville the weekend of August 30.
Cloer’s list of visits this fall also includes stops at Florida on September 6, North Carolina on October 10, and Alabama on October 18. He also intends to visit the rest of his top-eight programs: North Carolina, Indiana, Virginia, Syracuse, and Connecticut. Cloer emphasized Louisville’s consistency in recruiting him, saying the coaching staff has made it clear he’s a high priority in their plans to rebuild and win championships.
The 6-foot-7 wing said Louisville’s playing style under head coach Pat Kelsey is a major reason they remain in contention. He first noticed Kelsey’s teams during his time at Charleston and has been impressed with the up-tempo offense and emphasis on shooting. “That’s a big reason they’re in my top eight,” Cloer explained. “I like the style and how they play.”
Cloer has developed strong relationships with several Louisville coaches, including Kelsey, Thomas Carr, and Ronnie Hamilton. He praised the staff for reviving the program in just one season, noting the energy and excitement they’ve brought back to the team after taking over what had been one of the ACC’s bottom teams.
Currently ranked No. 24 nationally and the No. 9 small forward in the 2026 class by 247Sports, Cloer recently transferred from Caldwell Academy to IMG Academy in Florida for his senior season. At Caldwell, he averaged nearly 21 points, 7.5 rebounds, and over 3 assists per game while helping his team win the NCISAA 2A state title. He continued to shine at the Peach Jam, where he averaged 15.9 points and helped CP3 finish with a 4-2 record. Cloer said trimming his list of schools has made the recruitment process smoother, allowing for more meaningful conversations with coaches.
