Boston College has added a hidden gem to its 2026 recruiting class with the surprise commitment of linebacker Mekhi Volcy from Bedford, Massachusetts. As of now, the Eagles have 21 pledges in the class, most of whom are familiar names to those following recruiting closely on Eagle Insider. However, Volcy’s addition on Thursday came unexpectedly.
With no previous offers and not even a 247Sports profile, Volcy was relatively unknown. But BC’s coaching staff spotted the 6-foot-4, 230-pound linebacker at a camp and were immediately struck by his blend of size and athleticism—enough to extend an offer, which he accepted quickly. Despite limited playing time—only five of Bedford High’s 10 games in 2024—Volcy made an impact on both sides of the ball, recording 19 receptions for 277 yards along with 25 tackles and two sacks on defense.
247Sports’ Gabe Brooks reviewed his film and echoed the sentiment that Volcy is a raw but highly intriguing prospect. His potential is evident, even if he remains somewhat under the radar for now.
