JUST NOW: 3-year-old seriously hurt following hit-and-run crash on Mt. Read Boulevard

A child was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on the city’s west side Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers responded to Mount Read Boulevard near Jay Street just before 10 p.m. and discovered a 3-year-old boy who had been struck by a southbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene and has not yet been located.

The child was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries.

Police indicated that the child had walked into the roadway from a nearby home and was alone at the time.

No description of the suspect vehicle is available as the investigation continues.

A Rochester teenager is in critical condition after a rollover crash on Monday evening.

According to Rochester police, officers were called to Bloss Street around 7 p.m. and found a single-car accident involving a stolen vehicle that had overturned due to reckless driving.

The vehicle was carrying at least six youths aged between 12 and 16.

One of the occupants, a 14-year-old male, sustained critical injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening conditions.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
