Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is one of the NFL’s top players, and his rise from an overlooked recruit to a first-round draft pick could easily serve as the basis for a movie. Starting at Reedley Community College before transferring to Wyoming, Allen worked his way up to becoming one of the league’s most recognized stars after the Bills selected him in 2018.
When asked in a recent interview which actors he would want to portray him on screen, Allen named Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt. He admitted that Pratt was always his first choice, but with age becoming a factor, Hemsworth might be a better fit given his build and on-screen presence. Still, Allen acknowledged that neither actor looks like him, but he thinks it would be “cool” to see either take on the role.
Hemsworth is best known for his role as Thor in the Marvel movies, while Pratt plays Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. Both are established stars, though each is now in his 40s, which Allen pointed out might make them a little too old to play him accurately in a biopic focusing on his younger years.
If a film about Allen’s career were ever made, it would likely highlight his journey as a player, requiring a younger actor to step in. Just as Kurt Warner’s story was told in the 2021 movie American Underdog, Allen’s story has the makings of an inspirational sports drama. Warner went from playing in smaller leagues to becoming a Super Bowl champion with the St. Louis Rams, and Allen could follow a similar path if he wins a championship.
That possibility feels within reach this season. The Bills have opened 2-0, with comeback wins over the Ravens and Jets giving them early momentum. Next, they face the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football, where a win would move them to 3-0 and strengthen their push toward Allen’s ultimate goal: leading Buffalo to its first Super Bowl victory.
