Phillies Update: Nola Dominates Rehab, Bohm Nearing Return, Robertson Expected Soon
While the Phillies are on a three-city road trip, several key players are working their way back in Triple-A with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
Aaron Nola looked sharp in his second rehab start on Wednesday, allowing just one run over 3⅔ innings with three strikeouts and two walks, throwing 40 of 69 pitches for strikes. This followed a three-inning scoreless debut in his previous outing. Sidelined since mid-May with an ankle sprain and later a rib fracture, Nola is slated for one more rehab start next week before rejoining the Phillies’ rotation in mid-August.
Alec Bohm is also progressing from a left rib fracture. After base-running and sliding drills earlier this week, he’s beginning a rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley on Sunday. Bohm, who was hit by a pitch from Yu Darvish in July, is expected back around mid-August. After a slow start to the season, he’s improved to a .278 batting average with eight home runs and 42 RBIs.
David Robertson is likely to be activated Sunday after successful back-to-back appearances this week, including a strikeout to close an inning on Thursday. The veteran reliever had a couple of rough outings earlier in his rehab but appears ready to return after signing with the Phillies in late July.
