The Detroit Pistons are expected to be very active this offseason in both free agency and trades. After making the playoffs for the first time in six years and finishing sixth in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons have significantly improved their franchise. This turnaround comes after two seasons of having the worst record in the NBA.
With a promising young core led by Cade Cunningham, Detroit has enough assets and salary cap flexibility to pursue major moves. Recently, a trade proposal surfaced suggesting the Pistons acquire Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. The proposed deal would send Tobias Harris, Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, Jalen Duren, and four first-round picks to Milwaukee in exchange for Giannis.
Such a trade would create a strong duo with Giannis and Cunningham that could potentially contend for a championship. However, the Pistons would be parting with key players from their young core and an important veteran in Harris, who had a solid first season with Detroit.
Because this would dismantle much of their current roster, the Pistons would likely need to make further moves to build around their new stars. For now, this trade remains a theoretical scenario that would require significant adjustments by Detroit.
