Key Bills Players Who Must Improve Against the Steelers
Following a disappointing performance against the Houston Texans, the Buffalo Bills need several key players to perform better in their upcoming Week 13 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Bills, with a 7-4 record, have lost two of their last three games. To keep pace in the AFC East, they must return to winning form. Here are the players who are crucial to a victory against Pittsburgh.
1. The Offensive Line
The offensive line, typically a stable unit, has recently struggled in pass protection. This has made it difficult for receivers to get open, forcing the quarterback to extend plays and take more hits. On a positive note, this same group is responsible for blocking for the league’s top-ranked rushing offense, led by running back James Cook. The team must leverage its strength in the running game while urgently addressing its recent weaknesses in pass protection.
2. Quarterback Josh Allen
While Josh Allen may not be having his best statistical season,he remains the team’s most important player. His style of play combines a powerful arm with a willingness to run, but this has led to him taking more physical punishment than usual this year. The loss to the Texans was a clear example, as he was sacked eight times and had few open receivers beyond Khalil Shakir. For the Bills to succeed, Allen needs better support from his teammates.
3. Wide Receivers Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore
Aside from Shakir and tight end Dalton Kincaid, the receiving corps has struggled. Joshua Palmer, who was signed to be a primary receiver, has been inconsistent and has not been heavily involved in the offense in recent games. Elijah Moore, brought in as a deep threat, has been hampered by dropped passes and questionable play-calling, reducing his role in the offense. The current offensive scheme does not seem to be maximizing the talents of this receiver group, and adjustments may be necessary.
