The Bills were back to work less than a day after their 44–32 win over the Buccaneers, starting a short week of prep for Thursday night’s road game against the Houston Texans.
Injury and practice notes
Monday’s session at One Bills Drive was a walk-through, not a full-speed practice. Several players were held out:
TE Dalton Kincaid (hamstring)
DT Phidarian Mathis (shoulder)
WR Mecole Hardman Jr. (calf)
WR Curtis Samuel (elbow/neck)
A long list of veterans and starters were limited as the team tries to balance rest with getting ready for Thursday:
S Jordan Poyer*
DT DaQuan Jones*
CB Christian Benford
LB Terrel Bernard
CB Taron Johnson
DE Joey Bosa
LB Dorian Williams
WR Joshua Palmer
OL Connor McGovern
DT Jordan Phillips
*Poyer and Jones were mainly getting veteran rest.
Sean McDermott said the goal is to have the team as fresh as possible for Thursday while still getting in some meaningful practice work.
Josh Allen closing in on QB rushing TD record
Josh Allen’s six-touchdown performance against Tampa (three passing, three rushing) pushed him into more NFL history:
He’s now the only quarterback ever with multiple games of at least 3 passing TDs and 3 rushing TDs.
He passed Peyton Manning for the most total touchdowns before turning 30, now sitting at 290
Another big milestone is within reach: Allen needs just one more rushing touchdown to pass Cam Newton (75) for the most rushing TDs by a quarterback in NFL history. That record could fall as soon as Thursday night in Houston.
McDermott noted that Allen still embraces running the ball despite the hits, calling him extremely competitive and tough. Through 10 games, Allen leads the league with 10 rushing touchdowns and is on pace to set a new personal best. The Bills are 3–1 over their last four games, with Allen rushing for seven TDs in that stre
Keon Coleman situation: “moving forward”
Second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman was a healthy scratch against the Buccaneers after missing a team meeting on Friday. McDermott called it a difficult but necessary decision.
Coleman has publicly taken responsibility for the mistake. McDermott said the key now is learning from it and rebuilding trust with teammates through consistency and reliability. The team believes Coleman can grow from the situation.
McDermott did not commit to Coleman’s status for Thursday’s game, saying they’ll take it day by day and focus on moving forward as a team.
