The Buffalo Bills have brought back a familiar face to strengthen their defense — former Clemson linebacker Baylon Spector has rejoined the team’s practice squad ahead of Week 6. Alongside Spector, cornerback Jalen Kimber was also signed as the Bills continue to address depth concerns on defense.
Spector, a seventh-round pick (232nd overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, returns to the organization after spending three seasons in Buffalo. During his time with the team, he built a reputation as a dependable special teams contributor and situational defender before being released earlier this year.
A standout at Clemson from 2018 to 2021 under defensive coordinator Brent Venables, Spector earned recognition for his leadership, high motor, and defensive awareness. He totaled 210 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks during his college career, helping anchor one of the nation’s most dominant defensive fronts.
In the NFL, Spector has recorded 34 tackles, nine assists, one sack, and one quarterback hit over his first three seasons. His 2024 campaign included eight games, where he made noticeable contributions on both defense and special teams. Now, with his return, he brings valuable experience and familiarity with Sean McDermott’s defensive system — potentially positioning himself for a roster call-up if injuries continue to affect the linebacker group.
To make room for Spector and Kimber, the Bills released linebacker Otis Reese IV from the practice squad. Kimber, who recently spent time with the Tennessee Titans, adds competition and depth to the secondary. For Spector, this reunion marks another opportunity to re-establish himself within a playoff-contending defense and showcase the consistency that has made him one of Clemson’s most dependable NFLproducts.
