The Buffalo Bills, off to a 3-0 start in the 2025 NFL season, have moved to strengthen their offensive line depth by bringing back lineman Nick Broeker. The former seventh-round pick of Buffalo in the 2023 draft primarily plays guard but can also fill in at tackle.
General manager Brandon Beane is known for adding experienced players to the practice squad when anticipating potential depth concerns, and Broeker fits that mold. Over his three-year NFL career, he has spent time with the Bills, Houston Texans, and Dallas Cowboys.
At Ole Miss, Broeker played in 48 games between 2019 and 2022, starting 36 of them. He saw action at both left tackle and left guard, showcasing the versatility that makes him valuable as a backup option.
Currently, the Bills have only three guards on their active roster, with Kendrick Green the lone guard on the practice squad before Broeker’s signing. Because veteran offensive linemen are hard to acquire midseason, the Bills are being proactive. This move ensures they are better prepared in case of injuries, especially with Josh Allen’s protection being a top priority following his nose injury earlier this season.
The timing of the signing may also hint at possible injury concerns along the line as Buffalo prepares for its Week 4 matchup with the New Orleans Saints. Earlier this month, the team added kicker Matt Prater to the practice squad just days before Tyler Bass was sidelined with a hip injury. Broeker’s addition could follow a similar pattern, though the situation will become clearer as game preparations begin.
