This marks his 14th career honor and second of the season, following his win on March 31. Judge becomes the third Yankee to receive the recognition this year, joining Cody Bellinger’s award on September 2. His 14 Player of the Week titles tie him with Albert Pujols and Hall of Famer Frank Thomas for fourth-most all time. In the American League, only Manny Ramirez (16) holds more, with Ramirez and Miguel Cabrera tied for the most overall across both leagues.
The Yankees’ captain delivered a remarkable week, hitting .450 (9-for-20) with five home runs, five RBI, four walks, and nine runs scored across six games against playoff-caliber opponents. He led the Majors in home runs, slugging percentage (1.200), on-base percentage (.560), OPS (1.760), total bases (24), and runs scored, while ranking fourth in batting average.
On Friday in Boston, Judge hit his 362nd career home run, surpassing Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio for fourth place on the Yankees’ all-time list. He now trails only Babe Ruth (659), Mickey Mantle (536), and Lou Gehrig (493). That blast was also his 19th first-inning homer this season, breaking the single-season record of 18 set by Alex Rodriguez in 2001 and matched by Judge himself in 2024.
Earlier in the week, Judge tied DiMaggio with a two-homer game against Detroit, his 45th career multi-homer performance. That ranks third in Yankees history behind Ruth (68) and Mantle (46). Since his debut in 2017, no player has more multi-homer games, with Manny Machado trailing at 37. Judge closed out the week by collecting his 90th multi-reach game of the season, capping it with his 48th home run of the year. He is now just two shy of 50, seeking to join Ruth, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa as the only players with four 50-homer seasons. No player in history has ever done it five times.
