The Buffalo Bills stayed undefeated with a convincing victory over the New York Jets in Week 2. While the offense did its part, the game spotlight shifted to a scary moment when quarterback Josh Allen was seen bleeding on the field. He quickly returned, but afterward, Joey Bosa revealed a unique exchange he had with Allen that left an impression.
Speaking with NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo after the game, Bosa recalled how Allen, despite his injury, made a lighthearted yet motivating request. “Not at all. He’s an absolute beast,” Bosa said when asked if he was worried about Allen. “It’s funny, he’s like, ‘All I need from you is one strip sack,’ and I went out there and got it at the end of the game, so I’m happy I was able to do something for him.”
Bosa proved to be one of the stars of the night. He forced a fumble on Justin Fields, marking his second straight week with a turnover, while also adding six pressures, a sack, and two quarterback hits in just 26 snaps. His performance showcased why the Bills signed him to a one-year deal in March after his long run with the Los Angeles Chargers. Though injuries have impacted his career, when healthy, Bosa remains one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players.
Reflecting on the Jets game, Bosa explained how the defense adjusted from their struggles against the Ravens in Week 1. “We knew we were going to have to affect him; he’s great with his feet. He got out a few times, but we were able to affect him in the pocket… run some pressures, try to get him on the ground,” Bosa said.
Ultimately, the Bills defense delivered a statement win. Bosa emphasized how important it was to set the tone early and support the offense. “It’s always great to help the offense, especially early in the game, get the ball back in their hands. Hopefully, they can convert and get some points. The rest of the game went just how we were hoping. It’s a good team over there… Today was our day.”
With the defense stepping up and Allen showing toughness despite his injury, Buffalo secured a bounce-back victory and improved to 2-0. Next, they face a short week before a Thursday Night Football showdown with the Miami Dolphins.
