The NFL has dismissed the Baltimore Ravens’ formal appeal regarding their Week 1 loss to the Buffalo Bills, a game that ended in dramatic fashion and sparked controversy over officiating and clock management.
Baltimore’s appeal, submitted Monday, challenged what the team described as critical officiating errors and mismanagement of the game clock during the final minutes of the fourth quarter. The NFL responded Thursday with an official statement:
“After a full review of game footage and officiating reports, we have found no procedural or rule-based violations that would warrant further action. While close calls are part of the game, the outcome stands as final.”
Head coach John Harbaugh expressed frustration over both the outcome and the league’s response:
“We’re disappointed. There were moments in that fourth quarter where we felt the integrity of the game was compromised. But we’ll move on. This one hurts, no doubt.”
The Ravens had pointed to a disputed roughing-the-passer call on a crucial 4th-and-10 play and concerns over clock operations during the Bills’ final drive. Despite these claims, the NFL emphasized that judgment calls are not subject to appeal under current rules.
