Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf is taking his talents to Hollywood with a role in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Asteroid. The film pairs him with Sinners star Hailee Steinfeld, who is married to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, adding an extra layer of intrigue for NFL fans.
Directed by Doug Liman, Asteroid follows a group of strangers who set out on a daring mission to a nearby asteroid in pursuit of riches “beyond their wildest dreams.” The project will premiere at the Venice Film Festival’s immersive showcase in Italy next week before officially releasing later this year on Google’s Android XR platform.
Metcalf is no stranger to the entertainment world. He previously appeared as himself in the 2022 movie Secret Headquarters and made a guest appearance in the hit TV series Bel-Air. His latest role further expands his presence off the football field while showcasing his versatility.
The Steelers secured Metcalf in March, sending a 2025 second-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks to complete the trade. He then signed a massive five-year, $150 million contract extension with Pittsburgh, a deal that came just after he requested a move away from Seattle.
Before the trade, Metcalf posted strong numbers in the 2024 season, recording 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns with the Seahawks. Now, as he prepares for his first year in Pittsburgh, fans will also be watching him light up screens far beyond the football field.
