The St. Louis Blues have given 37-year-old forward Milan Lucic a tryout opportunity as he looks to return to the NHL. Lucic last played in 2023 and was a key part of the Boston Bruins’ 2011 Stanley Cup-winning roster. Over his career, he has also suited up for the Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames before making his way back to Boston last season.
During his short stint with the Bruins in 2023, Lucic collected two assists in four games before an ankle injury forced him onto long-term injured reserve. Not long after, he was arrested following an incident at his home, though the charges were later dropped when his wife chose not to testify.
Following the incident, Lucic entered the NHL’s Player Assistance Program. The Blues confirmed that he has since completed the program and has been cleared by the league to return. His tryout in St. Louis marks the first step toward resuming his professional career.
Lucic has put together a long and physical career spanning 17 seasons. He has recorded 233 goals, 353 assists, and 1,301 penalty minutes. His style of play has made him a notable power forward throughout the league.
His best season came in 2010–11 when he scored 32 goals and added 30 assists. That same year, he assisted on the decisive overtime goal in Game 7 against the Montreal Canadiens, a moment that helped the Bruins secure their most recent Stanley Cup championship.
