Joey Bosa’s time with the Buffalo Bills began with a setback, as he missed spring workouts due to a calf injury suffered earlier in the offseason. However, as training camp begins, the veteran pass rusher says he’s fully recovered.
“It was frustrating at the time, but I got over it quickly,” Bosa told WGR 550. “It was a minor issue—I don’t even think about it anymore.”
After spending his first nine NFL seasons with the Chargers, Bosa became well-acquainted with injuries, having played a full season just three times. Over the past three years, he appeared in only 28 of 51 possible regular-season games. The five-time Pro Bowler hasn’t reached double-digit sacks since 2021, recording five sacks in 14 games last season.
Now entering his 10th NFL season with a new team, Bosa is adjusting to life in Buffalo. Training camp at St. John Fisher has brought new energy.
“It’s been refreshing,” Bosa said. “Things were starting to feel repetitive with the Chargers, especially with the injuries. I needed a change. Buffalo’s been a pleasant surprise—Orchard Park is beautiful. I’ve got a yard, space for my dog to run, and even a family of geese we’ve been watching. My fiancée loves it. The fans are incredible—though maybe not so much when they’re yelling in the middle of dinner,” he joked, referencing a surprise outburst during a meal.
The Bills are hopeful that Bosa, now 30, can return to form and create a dominant pass-rushing duo alongside Gregory Rousseau. If Bosa can stay healthy, he could become a major asset in Sean McDermott’s defense—but that remains a question mark.
