The Buffalo Bills made a roster adjustment at wide receiver on Saturday. The team announced the signing of wide receiver Kelly Akharaiyi and the retirement of receiver David White. This move comes just days after White joined the team.
David White, 25, had recently signed with the Bills earlier in the week. He entered the NFL in 2024 as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL during Organized Team Activities (OTAs) that spring and never had the opportunity to play in a regular-season game for Jacksonville.
With White stepping away from football, the Bills brought in Kelly Akharaiyi as a replacement. Akharaiyi is also an undrafted free agent, coming out of Mississippi State. He played one season with the Bulldogs in 2024, appearing in 11 games and making a solid contribution.
During his year at Mississippi State, Akharaiyi recorded 25 receptions for 391 yards and scored two touchdowns. Before transferring there, he played at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) for two seasons, where he had 69 catches for 1,308 yards and eight touchdowns in 24 games.
The addition of Akharaiyi gives the Bills another young receiver to evaluate during training camp. With his college experience and proven production at two schools, he will now have a chance to compete for a spot on the roster.
