
Hailee Steinfeld has taken her health and eating habits seriously. At 28, she revealed in her “Beau Society” newsletter that she followed a plant-based diet for several years due to stomach sensitivities. After consulting a gastroenterologist and undergoing tests, she discovered her body reacted negatively to many foods she was eating.
While she isn’t vegan, Steinfeld found that switching to a plant-based diet helped her feel better. She also noticed that many meals she enjoys are naturally vegan without her realizing it.
Though she hasn’t shared why or when she stopped the diet, she maintains a balanced and healthy approach to food. In a 2022 interview, she said she eats when she’s hungry and focuses on fueling her body to perform well, rather than training to eat.
Steinfeld has also developed an interest in cooking, recently making homemade pasta and bruschetta, and planning to try new recipes. Alongside her diet, she stays active with workouts and enjoys walking her two small dogs, Martini and Brando.
She works out with her father, who motivates and believes in her, helping her find balance and self-kindness. Steinfeld also hopes to adopt another dog someday and often spends time with her brother’s golden retriever.
