A Major League scout believes the New York Yankees could become almost unbeatable in the American League if they add three specific players before the trade deadline at the end of July.
Although the Yankees have led the AL East for much of the year, the division race has tightened with the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox gaining ground. That puts pressure on GM Brian Cashman to strengthen the roster with impact trades.
Speaking to NJ Advance Media, an anonymous scout who follows the Yankees closely said that trading for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez, starting pitcher Zac Gallen, and Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase would make the Yankees heavy favorites to reach the World Series again this fall.
“If you have Suarez at third base, Gallen in the rotation behind Fried, Rodón, and Gil, plus Clase closing games, you upgrade your entire infield, lineup, rotation, and bullpen,” the scout explained. “If they add those three, who’s beating them in the AL? The Tigers have had a great season, but unless they improve their lineup dramatically, they’re not taking down a Yankees team with Suarez, Gallen, and Clase.”
The scout was especially impressed by Clase’s potential impact, even comparing him to Hall of Fame Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.
“Clase is a game changer,” he said. “Just tell him, ‘Go do your Mariano Rivera thing and throw that 100 mph cutter.’ Ballgame. Imagine him in pinstripes—everyone knows what’s coming, but they still can’t hit it. If that’s not Rivera all over again, I don’t know what is.”
Adding Clase would also let the Yankees move Williams to the eighth inning and use Weaver earlier in games, giving their bullpen more depth for deep playoff runs.
3 Major Trades Additions Guaranteed for Yankees World Series Return
The Yankees have reportedly been linked to all three players as the trade deadline approaches.
