Hailee Steinfeld has been cast in Winter Games, a new film set during the Winter Olympics. She stars alongside Miles Teller in the project, which will be directed by Paul Downs Colaizzo. The screenplay was co-written by Colaizzo and Pat Cunnane.
The story follows a talented but overlooked skier, played by Steinfeld, and a troubled hockey star, portrayed by Teller. As both athletes reach personal breaking points during the high-stakes environment of the Olympics, their unexpected connection begins to impact their individual goals — putting her shot at a medal and his chance at redemption in jeopardy.
The film is being produced by Tim and Trevor White for Star Thrower Entertainment, with Teller also contributing as a producer.
Earlier this year, Steinfeld received critical acclaim for her performance in Sinners, in which she portrayed a character named Mary. She described the role as deeply personal, saying it challenged her as an actor and allowed her to connect more deeply with her family history and cultural roots.
Reflecting on the experience, she shared that the project helped her explore her heritage and opened up meaningful conversations with her family — especially poignant following the loss of her grandfather. Through her role, she found a new appreciation for identity, grief, and the healing power of music, describing the character’s connection to blues music as both a tribute to her mother and a personal sanctuary.
