The Buffalo Bills made major changes to their receiving corps last offseason, parting ways with top receivers Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. In their place, the team adopted a more balanced approach that proved successful, helping quarterback Josh Allen lead one of the league’s most productive offenses in 2024.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Bills may not be done adding talent. Bleacher Report’s Mitchel Milani proposed a potential trade that would bring Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin to Buffalo. McLaurin is entering the final year of a three-year, $68 million deal and is reportedly a trade candidate.
Since entering the NFL in 2019, McLaurin has consistently produced over 1,000 receiving yards each season, despite working with a rotating cast of quarterbacks. Milani believes he would be a natural fit in Buffalo.
“Terry McLaurin would be perfect for Josh Allen,” Milani said. “He’s a deep threat who can stretch defenses and give the Bills another explosive option, making their offense even harder to stop.”
The Bills lacked a true deep-threat receiver last season, a role that had previously been filled by Davis and, to a lesser extent, Diggs.
Current State of the Bills’ Receiver Room
Buffalo has already made several moves at wide receiver this offseason. The team let veteran Amari Cooper walk in free agency but brought in Elijah Moore and Joshua Palmer. They also signed Laviska Shenault Jr., who could contribute both as a receiver and a return specialist.
General manager Brandon Beane has left the door open for a possible return by Cooper, though reports suggest that would only happen if he agrees to a smaller role and reduced salary.
Buffalo focused mostly on the defensive side of the ball during the 2025 NFL Draft but did use a seventh-round pick on Maryland wideout Kaden Prather. At 6-foot-3 and 204 pounds, Prather brings size to the receiving group, and team officials noted his strong work ethic. He’s expected to compete for a roster spot, potentially through special teams.
