Veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas is still available in free agency after reportedly declining a contract offer from the Miami Dolphins in May. The Dolphins have a history of signing former Buffalo Bills players, including Thurman Thomas and Jordan Poyer, but Douglas hasn’t followed that path—at least not yet.
According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Miami is still in contact with Douglas and he remains a possible addition to their roster. The Dolphins are currently facing uncertainty in their secondary, particularly surrounding All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey. With the team reportedly seeking to trade Ramsey but struggling to find a partner, they are keeping their options open.
After losing out on Jaire Alexander—who signed with the Ravens following his release from Green Bay—Douglas remains one of the top remaining options at cornerback. Although he previously showed interest in rejoining the Bills, Buffalo opted instead to bring in Tre’Davious White and Dane Jackson during free agency and used their first-round draft pick on Maxwell Hairston.
Douglas, originally a third-round pick in 2017, has had a solid career despite moving between teams. He made a strong impression after joining the Bills midseason in 2023, but his 2024 season didn’t match that success.
While Douglas is still unsigned, it’s likely he’ll eventually land with a team on a budget-friendly deal. If Miami circles back, he might have fewer reasons to decline.
