Clayton Kershaw Calls Out Cardinals for ‘Bush League’ Dug at 2014 NLCS Moment
Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw didn’t hold back after a controversial move by the St. Louis Cardinals during their recent three-game series.
Ahead of Kershaw’s start on Sunday, the Cardinals played a video clip from Game 4 of the 2014 National League Championship Series, showcasing Matt Adams’ go-ahead three-run home run off Kershaw—a moment that contributed to the Dodgers’ elimination that postseason.
Speaking after the game, Kershaw told reporters, “I think it’s a little bush league, but I don’t expect anything less from these guys. So, it’s no worries,” according to MLB.com.
Despite the provocation, Kershaw delivered one of his strongest performances of the season. Returning from early-season knee and toe surgeries, he pitched five solid innings, struck out seven, and allowed only one run in the Dodgers’ 7-3 victory.
The video choice stirred conversation around sportsmanship, especially given Kershaw’s long and accomplished career. While the Cardinals have yet to comment, Kershaw made it clear that he considered the move unnecessary—but ultimately, it didn’t shake his focus on the mound.
