Josh Allen Shares Positive Health Update Ahead of 2025 Season
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen shared encouraging news about his health as the team gears up for the 2025 season. Speaking at voluntary team practices, Allen said he’s feeling better than he has in years, crediting fewer hits and changes in the team’s offensive strategy.
“This is the best I’ve felt physically after a season,” Allen said. He noted that he was the least sacked quarterback in the league last year, thanks to improved offensive line play and a scheme that reduced his rushing attempts. Allen carried the ball 102 times in 2024, totaling 531 yards and scoring 12 rushing touchdowns — a decline from his 120+ carries in both 2021 and 2022.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane have both emphasized reducing Allen’s physical toll. “The only thing I’d get on to him for is having too many bruises,” Beane said. “We’ve got to work on him taking fewer hits.”
In previous seasons, Allen often entered the offseason recovering from lingering injuries. Last year, he worked with a sports science company in California to adjust his throwing mechanics, which had been affected by a shoulder injury. He described the process as refining his motion, similar to adjusting a golf swing.
This offseason, Allen has shifted his focus to pre-snap reads, improved footwork, and better communication within the offense. “It’s about recognizing defenses, setting protections, and knowing where my answers are,” he explained.
With a healthier body and sharper mental focus, Allen is looking to lead the Bills into a strong 2025 campaign.
