Breaking News: The Houston Texans 2024 schedule comes out today. What time does it drop and what to expect?

HOUSTON (KIAH) — With the 2024 NFL schedule to drop on Wednesday night, there are some questions on what it will look like for the Houston Texans.

After a surprising 2023 season that saw the Texans win 10 games, win the AFC South Division title and win a playoff game over Cleveland, Houston should get its share of primetime games. Especially since the Texans have a centerpiece talent in AFC Offensive Rookie of the Year, quarterback C.J. Stroud, along with AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, linebacker Will Anderson Jr.

So let’s take a look at how the 2024 schedule may look like.

Who are the Texans playing this year?

The Texans’ opponents are already known, with home games against AFC South rivals Indianapolis, Tennessee, and Jacksonville; AFC foes Miami, Buffalo and Baltimore; and NFC South teams in Chicago and Detroit.

Houston will play on the road against their AFC South rivals, along with a big game at the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Other road games include New England, New York (Jets), Green Bay and Minnesota.

But the big road game will come against the Texans’ in-state rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

Will there be any primetime games?

The Texans will face seven teams that made the playoffs last season, so that should make for plenty of opportunities for Houston to make a primetime game, if not many.

A Monday Night Football game is probable for Houston since the Texans played a couple of their late-season games on ESPN and ABC. Games against Buffalo, Baltimore and Detroit could be prime candidates.

A Sunday Night game is possible, but unlikely since NBC likes having marquee games on at that time. One game that could crack the list is the game at Kansas City or the game against the Cowboys.

Could the Texans play a holiday game?

Is there a possibility of a chance for the Texans to be playing during a holiday? It’s possible, but unlikely.

Nope, not this year. The Texans played a game in England back in 2022, and they are not among the list of teams that will play in this year’s international games.

What has been already released by the NFL?

The league announced that the regular season opener will feature the Chiefs hosting the Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5 in an AFC Championship rematch on NBC. Dallas will be in Cleveland to open the season on Sunday, Sept. 8 on FOX, as it will be Tom Brady’s debut as a TV analyst.

The first Monday Night Football game of the season will be on Sept. 9, when the Jets face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

A couple of Week 2 games have also been released, with the Bills and Dolphins playing on Thursday night on Amazon Prime, while Cincinnati heads to Kansas City as the main game in the late Sunday afternoon window at 3:25 p.m. Central time on CBS.

How can I see the NFL schedule drop?

The schedule announcement will be on NFL Network at 7 p.m. Wednesday night. The Texans will reveal their schedule via their social media channels at that same time.
