The Beatles announce albums boxset to celebrate 60 years of global Beatlemania: see list

The Beatles have announced a new box set featuring their 1964 U.S. albums, celebrating 60 years of Beatlemania. It includes replicated artwork and newly designed four-panel inserts with essays.

The upcoming collection re-releases albums by the legendary Liverpool band, originally compiled for U.S. release by Capitol Records and United Artists between January 1964 and March 1965, to celebrate this major milestone.

The set includes seven albums by Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, all analogue cut on 180-gram audiophile vinyl from their original mono master tapes.

Titled *The Beatles: 1964 US Albums In Mono*, the eight-LP, 180g vinyl box set will be available worldwide on November 22 through Apple Corps Ltd., Capitol, and UMe, with pre-orders available now.

The albums in the set are *Meet The Beatles!*, released on January 20, 1964, which held the top spot for 11 weeks; *The Beatles’ Second Album*, released on April 10, which spent five weeks at Number One; and *A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track)*, released in June, which dominated the charts for 14 weeks.

Also included are *Something New* (released July 20), *The Beatles’ Story* (November 23), *Beatles ’65* (December 15), and *The Early Beatles*, which debuted on March 22, 1965, peaking at Number 43.

Each of the new reissues features meticulously replicated artwork and includes new four-panel inserts with essays penned by American Beatles historian and author Bruce Spizer.

The vinyl lacquers for the albums were freshly cut by Kevin Reeves at East Iris Studios in Nashville. The box set gathers all seven albums, with the exception of *The Beatles’ Story*, also available for individual purchase.

A press release states, “1964 was a banner year for The Beatles in the US (and all around the world), even by the band’s own ‘toppermost of the poppermost’ standards. The Beatles scored 17 US Top 40 singles, including six Number Ones, six Top 10 albums, four of which reached Number One, and a blockbuster film. By the end of the year, Capitol had sold over 15 million Beatles records.”

The statement concludes, “60 years on, Beatlemania remains timeless. The Beatles’ legacy continues to shine, rekindled by each new generation’s joyful discovery, and further explored by musicians, filmmakers, writers, and fans of all kinds.”

In other Beatles news, it was reported earlier this year that one of the band’s earliest venues has been transformed into an Airbnb, allowing fans of the Liverpool quartet to stay at a piece of their history.

Additionally, Snoop Dogg shared that Paul McCartney once told him not to put out his blunt when they met, and it was announced that George Harrison’s 1971 *Concert For Bangladesh* live album, featuring Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, and others, would be available on streaming platforms for the first time.

Meanwhile, rumors surfaced regarding the cast of Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopic. Charlie Rowe is speculated to play Harrison, Harris Dickinson as Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Starr, and Paul Mescal is reportedly cast as McCartney.

Earlier this week, *NME* gave *One To One: John & Yoko* a glowing five-star review, praising it for “combining a wealth of archive material with some thrilling concert footage” and for “capturing the couple at a fascinating time in their lives, as Lennon was shaping his post-Beatles identity as a social activist.”
