SAD NEWS: Wests Tigers halfback suffers knee injury

There are concerns that Aidan Sezer may be sidelined for the remainder of the season after suffering a suspected knee injury during the match against the Newcastle Knights.

Sezer left the field in the second half of Sunday’s game after a collision with Knights fullback Kalyn Ponga and was later seen with an ice pack on his knee.

While the club has yet to confirm the injury’s severity, NRL Physio reports that the team is hopeful there is no structural damage and that the injury is “more just bone bruising.”

If Sezer is unable to play in the Round 24 game against the Rabbitohs, Latu Fainu or Jayden Sullivan could step in. Fainu, who missed last week due to mandatory concussion protocols, has shown promise in the halfback role, while Sullivan has been playing in the NSW Cup for the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Additionally, Dolphins veteran Mark Nicholls will be unavailable next week due to the mandatory 11-day stand-down period after failing his HIA during the first half against the Warriors.
