Rumors circulating on X (formerly Twitter) suggest that Port Vale could be eyeing another player from Sheffield Wednesday.
Earlier this summer, the Valiants made headlines by signing George Byers, reuniting him with his former Sheffield Wednesday manager Darren Moore at Vale Park. Now, social media sources indicate that Moore might be considering another reunion with winger Mallik Wilks, who currently finds himself out of favor at Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilks had an impressive season in League One with Hull City, scoring 22 goals in the 2020-21 campaign. His potential signing by League Two’s Port Vale would be seen as another significant capture. However, since moving to Hillsborough in 2022, Wilks has struggled to replicate that form, partly due to injuries last season, which could be a concern for Vale.
While it remains to be seen whether these rumors hold weight, there is speculation that Wilks might view a key role in League Two more favorably than a peripheral position in the Championship. In previous seasons, such a move for a player like Wilks might have seemed unlikely, but given Port Vale’s recent ambitious signings, there may be more credibility to these rumors this time around.
