JUST IN: Port Vale Confirm Capture Of Former Defender from League Two rivals

Port Vale have announced the signing of former defender Connor Hall from League Two competitors Colchester United for an undisclosed fee.

This move marks Darren Moore’s seventh acquisition of the summer, strengthening his squad in preparation for the upcoming 2024/2025 League Two season.

Hall’s football career began with Bury Town in the Isthmian League in 2011, where he made 74 appearances over four years. After a brief stint with St Neots Town in 2015, he returned to Bury Town for a second spell.

In 2016, Hall moved to Biggleswade Town for two seasons before joining Brackley Town ahead of the 2018/2019 season in the National League North, where he made 38 appearances.

Continuing his ascent up the football ladder, Hall signed with Harrogate Town in 2019 and played a key role in their promotion to League Two during the 2019/2020 season. Over his time at Harrogate, he amassed 105 appearances and scored five goals.

In January 2022, Hall transferred to Port Vale, contributing to their promotion from League Two via the play-offs. After a season and a half, he moved to Colchester United in January, the details of which were undisclosed.

Now, at 32 years old, Hall returns to Port Vale for his second stint with the club ahead of the 2024/2025 League Two season.

Hall’s addition brings a wealth of experience to Port Vale. Standing at 6’4″, the defender has amassed 259 career appearances, including 146 in League Two.

Notably, he has been pivotal in two promotions: one with Harrogate Town and another with Port Vale in the 2021/2022 season. His experience in achieving promotion adds valuable insight and leadership to a team aiming for promotion.

Hall’s physical stature makes him a formidable presence in defense, especially aerially, which is crucial in the competitive landscape of League Two where long-ball tactics are common.

His comfort on the ball and versatility to slot into midfield when required further enhance his utility for Port Vale, accommodating the diverse playing styles encountered in modern-day League Two football.
