The Eight NC State athletes who will compete in the Paris Olympics

NC State, particularly its swimming program, will be well-represented at the Summer Olympics once again. Seven current or former Wolfpack swimmers are headed to Paris, headlined by Katharine Berkhoff and Ryan Held on Team USA.

Berkhoff, who will compete in the 100m backstroke, is among the world’s best in that event and has an excellent chance to medal. Held, who won a gold medal in 2016 as part of the 4x100m freestyle relay, will compete in that event again. They will be joined by NC State head coach Braden Holloway, who has been selected to serve as an assistant coach for Team USA.

The other Pack swimmers to qualify for Paris:

Kacper Stokowski (Poland)

Bartosz Piszczorowicz (Poland)

Sophie Hansson (Sweden)

Nyls Korstanje (Denmark)

Andreas Vazaios (Greece)

Several of them are making repeat appearances, and Vazaios is going for the fourth consecutive time. Not bad.

The only non-swimmer competing this year is tennis alum Diana Shnaider, who recently made it to the third round at Wimbledon. She’ll be the Pack’s first-ever tennis representative at the Olympics.
