The Steelers are expected to fill their open roster spot by signing long snapper Tucker Addington, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson’s report on Monday afternoon. No official announcement has been made yet.
Addington is a familiar name to the Steelers, who previously worked him out in September 2024. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound specialist went undrafted in 2020 out of Sam Houston State and didn’t enter the NFL until 2022. Since then, he has had brief stints with several teams including the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans.
The 27-year-old has played in 10 NFL games so far, including four in the 2024 season.
In addition to his playing career, Addington has also coached with the Texas Long Snapping organization and is a member of their Hall of Honor. His profile highlights his four-year tenure as the starting snapper at Sam Houston State, where he started 50 games. Known for his athleticism and speed, he boasts a 4.5-second 40-yard dash and one of the fastest snap times (.65 seconds on average) among Texas Long Snapping alumni. His quick, accurate snaps were a key factor in limiting punt returns against his college team.
If signed, Addington would join the Steelers as the team’s second long snapper, competing with Christian Kuntz, who is currently in the second year of his three-year contract with Pittsburgh.
