Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen Receive Wedding Congratulations from Unexpected NFL Rival — But Fans Notice Something Odd
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen married actress Hailee Steinfeld on May 31 in a private ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. The couple got engaged less than a year before, with Allen proposing during the Bills’ bye week last November on a California cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Weeks after the wedding, congratulations continue to pour in. Interestingly, Christen Goff, wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff, took to Instagram to congratulate Hailee Steinfeld with a simple message and emojis. However, fans quickly noticed that Jared Goff himself did not offer congratulations to Josh Allen publicly, sparking surprise and debate among NFL followers.
Although Allen and Jared Goff aren’t division rivals, they were both contenders for MVP honors last season, creating a friendly rivalry between them. The Bills and Lions are not scheduled to play each other this season; their last game was in December 2024, when the Bills ended Detroit’s winning streak with a 48-42 victory.
The wedding ceremony featured a black-and-white theme with large white floral arrangements. Guests mostly wore black or neutral tones, with some shielding themselves from the sun with white parasols. The couple exchanged vows under a tented canvas structure.
While the official guest list hasn’t been confirmed, photos showed several notable attendees, including comedian and actor Larry David, who surprised many by attending. Several of Allen’s Bills teammates—Dawson Knox, Spencer Brown, Mitch Trubisky, Shane Buechele—as well as head coach Sean McDermott, were also present.
The event celebrated a joyful beginning for Allen and Steinfeld’s future together — but fans are still buzzing over the unexpected congratulatory silence from Jared Goff himself.
