Boise State Softball Adds Two New Assistant Coaches
Boise State announced the addition of two new assistant coaches to its softball program on Monday. Head coach Justin Shults revealed that Mariah Lopez and Tegan Cortelletti will be joining the Broncos’ staff.
Mariah Lopez, who will oversee the pitching staff, arrives from California Baptist University. She previously served as a graduate assistant at both Minnesota and Oregon. As a player, Lopez had an outstanding collegiate career, posting a 51-2 record at Oklahoma from 2017 to 2019, and a 20-5 record at Arizona between 2020 and 2021. Notably, she was the winning pitcher in the 2017 Women’s College World Series championship game, helping Oklahoma defeat Florida for the national title.
“Mariah brings a wealth of experience, having worked under some of the best pitching coaches in the country,” said Shults. “She’s ready to raise the bar for our program.”
Tegan Cortelletti joins the staff after playing five seasons at Ohio State, where she was a standout outfielder. In her final season, she led the Buckeyes with a .394 batting average and held a career on-base percentage of .451 over 180 games. She began her coaching career at Bowling Green, where she worked during the 2025 season. At Boise State, she will be responsible for coaching the outfielders and the slap hitters.
“I’ve followed Tegan’s career for years and recruited her when I was at Miami (Ohio),” said Shults. “She’s a great addition and fits perfectly with what we’re building here.”
The new hires come as Boise State continues to build on recent success, both on the field and academically.
