The Green Bay Packers have added two former defensive backs from their Super Bowl XLV team to their coaching staff. Nick Collins and Morgan Burnett joined the organization this spring through the NFL’s Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship.
Both Collins and Burnett were teammates during the 2010 and 2011 seasons and had notable careers with the Packers. Collins, a second-round pick in 2005, played seven seasons before a neck injury ended his career in 2011. A three-time Pro Bowler, Collins is a member of the Packers Hall of Fame and made key plays, including a crucial interception in the Super Bowl XLV victory over the Steelers.
Burnett, while not as decorated, was a consistent performer during his eight seasons with Green Bay. He recorded over 100 tackles in three seasons, 44 pass deflections, and forced eight fumbles. Known for his versatility on the field, Burnett likely developed much of his skill from mentors like Collins and Charles Woodson.
These hires give the former players a chance to develop coaching skills at the NFL level while bringing valuable experience and a deep connection to the Packers organization.
