Bills Scheduled to Face Aaron Rodgers and Steelers in Week 13
After months of speculation about Aaron Rodgers’ future following his release from the New York Jets, it’s now official: Rodgers will play the 2025 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Rodgers plans to travel to Pittsburgh and sign with the team ahead of next week’s minicamp.
This move has been anticipated for some time, though Rodgers waited until the last moment to make it official. Now, the Buffalo Bills are set to face him for the third consecutive season—this time in a Week 13 matchup in Pittsburgh.
Rodgers, previously with the Green Bay Packers and Jets, played only one full season in New York due to an Achilles injury in 2023. While he struggled at times last season, he ended the year on a relatively strong note. Still, it wasn’t enough for the Jets’ new leadership to retain him.
When Rodgers first arrived in New York, there were high expectations that he would elevate the Jets to contender status. However, the plan fell apart, and the team has since entered a rebuild.
Looking ahead to the Week 13 game, the Bills will face Rodgers in a new uniform. If Rodgers remains healthy and in the starting role, Buffalo’s defense—known for its ability to challenge quarterbacks—will likely be a difficult test for the veteran. Despite Rodgers’ talent, the Steelers’ offensive unit remains a question mark, even though their defense ranks among the NFL’s best.
Bills fans shouldn’t be overly concerned about this matchup, but Rodgers will have time to build chemistry with his new teammates before the game. That could make for a more competitive contest than expected.
