Sananda Fru Signs with Louisville Men’s Basketball
Sananda Fru has officially joined the University of Louisville men’s basketball team for the 2025–26 season. Head coach Pat Kelsey confirmed the signing on Monday.
“Sananda is going to make an immediate impact for us,” said Kelsey. “At 6-foot-11 and 255 pounds with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, he’s a dominant physical presence. He brings athleticism, skill, and strong basketball instincts. He’s an effective pick-and-roll player, a solid finisher, and is becoming a reliable three-point shooter thanks to his strong mechanics. He’s also a smart defender who can guard multiple positions and block shots. He’s been competing at a high level in Europe for several years and brings valuable experience to our program. On top of that, he’s a great person, and we’re thrilled to have him.”
Fru, a 6-foot-10 forward/center from Germany, comes to Louisville after four seasons with Basketball Löwen Braunschweig in the German BBL. He is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports and ranks among the top 25 recruits nationally for the 2025 class.
During the 2024–25 season—including appearances in the FIBA Europe Cup—Fru started 35 of 39 games. He averaged 12.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game, while shooting an efficient 64.5% from the field.
In the German BBL playoffs, Fru helped lead Braunschweig to one of its most successful seasons in over a decade. He averaged 10.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game over five playoff contests, shooting 60.7%.
Fru has also represented Germany in international play, competing with the national U20 team in the 2022 and 2023 FIBA competitions.
