Cowboys Rumored to Pursue Trade for Browns Tight End David Njoku
The Dallas Cowboys could be eyeing another significant move this offseason, with analysts predicting a potential trade for Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku. Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert suggested the Cowboys might target Njoku to bolster their offense, pairing him with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and newly acquired George Pickens.
Njoku, who is entering the final year of his four-year, $54.7 million contract, would provide Dallas with a proven pass-catching tight end. While the Cowboys already have Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker on the roster, Njoku’s production—64 catches for 505 yards and five touchdowns in just 11 games last season—could add another dynamic weapon to their offense.
The Browns may consider moving Njoku if they decide to reset their roster, making a trade plausible. However, acquiring him would be costly for Dallas, given his $11.4 million cap hit in 2025. Still, his presence could elevate the Cowboys’ passing attack under new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.
Prescott has already praised Schottenheimer’s approach, emphasizing improved team connectivity and a revamped offensive system. Adding Njoku could further enhance Dallas’ ability to compete in a loaded NFC East.
While nothing is confirmed, the speculation highlights the Cowboys’ willingness to make aggressive moves this offseason. If Njoku becomes available, Dallas could emerge as a serious suitor, though financial considerations may ultimately dictate their decision.
