Suns’ Star Devin Booker Named Pistons’ Ideal Trade Target
The Detroit Pistons had a remarkable turnaround this season, going from the NBA’s worst team to a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference. Though their season ended in the first round against the New York Knicks, it marked their first postseason appearance since 2018-19.
Now, the Pistons face a pivotal offseason with significant cap space, allowing them to pursue major moves in free agency and trades.
Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz recently highlighted three potential trade targets for Detroit, with Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker leading the list. The other two players mentioned were Boston Celtics’ Jrue Holiday and Brooklyn Nets’ forward Cameron Johnson.
Detroit’s biggest weakness last season was their offense, which relied heavily on star guard Cade Cunningham. Adding Booker alongside Cunningham could transform them into a legitimate title threat. However, the Suns may be reluctant to trade Booker, forcing the Pistons to explore other options.
Holiday would bring elite defense and scoring, though his fit next to Cunningham is uncertain. Johnson, meanwhile, could bolster Detroit’s three-point shooting, especially if they retain unrestricted free agent Malik Beasley.
With ample cap flexibility, the Pistons are expected to aggressively pursue roster upgrades this summer.
