Jackson, Tenn. Running Back Lekhy Thompkins Commits to Louisville
Lekhy Thompkins, a standout running back from University School in Jackson, Tennessee, has announced his commitment to the University of Louisville. He becomes the 14th pledge in the Cardinals’ 2026 recruiting class under head coach Jeff Brohm.
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect chose Louisville over Minnesota and Memphis, sharing the news via social media. Thompkins, who holds more than a dozen scholarship offers, had planned an official visit to Louisville for the weekend of June 20. He had previously taken an unofficial visit in early March, attending a spring practice where he received his offer.
“I loved Louisville,” Thompkins said after that visit. “Coach [Chris] Barclay treated me and my mom like family. They showed me a lot of love.”
As a junior, Thompkins rushed for 892 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also contributing 20 receptions for 342 yards and three receiving scores. Defensively, he made an impact at linebacker with 45 tackles, including 10.5 for loss and two sacks.
According to 247Sports, Thompkins is ranked as the No. 54 running back nationally in the 2026 class and the No. 32 overall player in Tennessee. He joins Evan Hampton of Owensboro as the second running back in Louisville’s current recruiting class.
