The Buffalo Bills’ Most Vital Players Heading Into 2025
As the Buffalo Bills aim to finally break through to a Super Bowl appearance, attention turns to the players who will shape the team’s fate in 2025. With quarterback Josh Allen coming off his first MVP season and the NFL Draft and schedule now set, Pro Football Focus (PFF) has highlighted the three most crucial players for the Bills this year.
NFL analyst Trevor Sikkema emphasizes that while quarterback is always the most important position, every team has a core group of players that define its ceiling. For the Bills, that trio includes Josh Allen, offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, and cornerback Christian Benford.
Allen continues to anchor the team’s success, earning a 93.1 offensive grade in 2024—his fifth consecutive season scoring above 90. Dawkins remains a steady force on the offensive line, boasting an 81.6 pass-blocking grade, his eighth straight season above 76. Benford stands out on defense, recording 0.57 wins above replacement (WAR)—the highest among Buffalo defenders and sixth-best among NFL cornerbacks.
In a separate PFF quarterback ranking released the same week, Allen was placed in the “elite” tier but came in at No. 4 behind Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson. Despite this, Allen’s consistent dominance, highlighted by a league-best 95.4 overall grade over the past three seasons, reinforces his status as a premier quarterback.
Though some Bills fans may feel Allen deserves to be ranked even higher, especially after leading the team without two of his top receivers last season, his performance speaks for itself. As 2025 kicks off, Allen and his supporting cast are poised to push Buffalo toward its long-awaited championship breakthrough.
