Louisville men’s basketball has added a new piece to its 2025-26 roster with the commitment of Mouhamed Camara, a 6’8″ power forward from Senegal. Camara has spent the last few years developing his game at NBA Academy Africa, a program that supports elite basketball prospects across the continent.
A 4-star recruit according to 247Sports, Camara has shown impressive all-around skills. This past season, he averaged 10.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.8 steals, and 2.5 blocks per game. He also demonstrated solid shooting ability, connecting on 37.5% of his three-point attempts and over 60% of his total field goals.
Camara’s high school coach, Roland Houston, spoke highly of both his talent and character. “He brings intensity on defense, competes hard, and is a great teammate,” Houston said. “He’s also a smart player with a natural feel for the game. Louisville fans will appreciate his background and mindset, which are similar to Gorgui Dieng’s.”
With Camara’s addition, Louisville continues to grow its international presence. He becomes the second international recruit on the roster for the upcoming season, joining German big man Sananda Fru. Both players are expected to bring versatility and depth to the frontcourt.
While it’s uncertain how much playing time Camara will earn as a freshman, his potential is evident. His combination of physical tools, defensive instincts, and character make him a valuable long-term addition to the program. Louisville fans have good reason to be excited about what he could become.
