Aaron Rodgers to Steelers? ESPN Analyst Believes It’s the Right Move
Aaron Rodgers’ future has been a major topic throughout the NFL offseason. Although heavily linked to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he has yet to sign a contract.
Rodgers’ recent years with the New York Jets have been turbulent. He missed nearly the entire 2023 season due to an Achilles injury suffered on his first drive. In 2024, he returned and posted solid numbers—completing 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions—but the team as a whole struggled.
Many expect Rodgers to ultimately join the Steelers before the 2025 season begins. ESPN analyst Matt Bowen weighed in, calling Pittsburgh the best fit for the 41-year-old quarterback.
“All signs are pointing at Rodgers heading to Pittsburgh, where he will have a strong run game foundation under coordinator Arthur Smith and a play-action system that can keep the pocket firm,” Bowen wrote. “The quick game will play a role here, too, given Rodgers’ accelerated release time and field vision. And his No. 1 option would be newly acquired receiver DK Metcalf, who thrives at creating explosive plays.”
Bowen’s analysis aligns with the general consensus. Rodgers joining the Steelers would put him in a strong position to make another Super Bowl run.
Pittsburgh’s interest in Rodgers is evident. They’ve held off on pursuing other quarterbacks this offseason, clearly waiting on his decision. That level of commitment could be appealing to Rodgers as he considers his next move.
More updates are expected soon, but Bowen believes the path forward for Rodgers is clear.
