Could the Bills Target Packers Receiver to Boost Offense?
The Buffalo Bills continue to build around star quarterback Josh Allen, but after parting ways with longtime top receiver Stefon Diggs during the 2024 offseason, the team has been experimenting with a receiver-by-committee approach. While this strategy has some potential, it has yet to fully replace the explosiveness Diggs once brought to the offense.
Despite Allen’s MVP-level performance, the supporting cast—featuring receivers like Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Amari Cooper—hasn’t consistently challenged opposing defenses. The Bills have added players such as Joshua Palmer, Elijah Moore, and Laviska Shenault Jr., but none have emerged as a true No. 1 option.
With limited opportunities remaining to add an elite wideout, Buffalo may consider a trade. One possible option is Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs, who has posted back-to-back 600-yard seasons. While not a star, Doubs offers experience and versatility, potentially serving as a dependable piece within Buffalo’s current receiving group.
Beth Mishler-Elmore of Heavy Sports suggested that Doubs could fit well in Buffalo—if he can be acquired at a reasonable cost. According to league speculation, the Packers would likely ask for a 2025 fourth-round pick in exchange. That price reflects Doubs’ current value as a solid, but not elite, contributor with upside in the right system.
Still, questions remain about how much of an upgrade Doubs would actually provide. He’s shown he can contribute, but hasn’t proven himself as a top-tier playmaker. The Bills already have multiple complementary receivers and are hoping internal development might yield a breakout. But unless a more dynamic option emerges, Buffalo may be forced to explore trades like this—especially if Green Bay’s asking price stays within reason.
