Titans Acquire Former Saints Linebacker with Local Roots
The Tennessee Titans continue to reshape their roster under new general manager Mike Borgonzi following a disappointing three-win season. One of their latest moves brings in a player with local ties and NFL experience.
On Wednesday, the Titans claimed linebacker Anfernee Orji off waivers. Orji, who played college football at Vanderbilt, returns to Tennessee after spending time with the New Orleans Saints.
Orji entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and initially joined the Saints’ practice squad. In the 2024 season, he appeared in 16 games, making 30 tackles, including two tackles for loss, and starting in two games. While it’s unclear why New Orleans released him, the Titans saw enough value to add him to their linebacker rotation.
Although Orji isn’t expected to start immediately, his familiarity with the region and experience on special teams and defense could prove valuable as the Titans look to fill depth gaps on their roster.
This move adds to a busy offseason for Tennessee. Alongside drafting quarterback Cam Ward, the team also brought in several veteran free agents such as receivers Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson, and defensive players Dre’Mont Jones and Cody Barton—further reflecting Borgonzi’s push to rebuild a more competitive squad.
