Brad Underwood Adds Camryn Crocker to Illinois Basketball Coaching Staff
Illinois head coach Brad Underwood has added a new member to his coaching staff, announcing Thursday that Camryn Crocker will join the team this fall. Crocker, who previously served as an assistant coach at Colgate, brings a diverse background and experience to the Illini program.
A former player at the University of Pennsylvania, Crocker has built a well-rounded coaching résumé in a short period. In addition to his time at Colgate, he has worked at Stanford and in various prep programs in the Northeast, gaining valuable experience across multiple levels of basketball.
In a statement, Underwood praised Crocker’s defensive acumen and coaching skills: “Camryn is a dynamic coach who understands the modern game. He’s a great on-court teacher, a connector who builds strong relationships, and someone who brings fresh and innovative ideas to our program.” Underwood highlighted Crocker’s ability to mentor players and his well-rounded background, including his California roots and time in the Ivy League.
Crocker’s only other Division I coaching role came at Stanford before moving on to Colgate. His addition fills a key spot on Underwood’s staff as the Illini continue to retool for upcoming seasons.
The hire reflects Underwood’s ongoing commitment to surrounding the Illinois program with talented, forward-thinking coaches as they aim to compete at a high level in the Big Ten and beyond.
