Roquan Smith Eager for Week 1 Rematch Against Bills: ‘Revenge is best served cold’
The NFL’s 2025 season opens with high-intensity matchups, none more emotionally charged than the Week 1 showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. This game comes with added tension following a postseason clash last year that ended Baltimore’s season on a sour note.
Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith is embracing the opportunity to settle the score.
“Yeah, just how I like it,” Smith said on NFL Network. “Revenge is best served as a cold dish. It’ll be nice to go up to Buffalo and get a little payback for how last season ended.”
Baltimore had a dominant regular-season win over Buffalo last year, but a disappointing postseason loss to the same team erased any satisfaction from that earlier victory.
“Those guys won fair and square, but that kind of loss sticks with you,” Smith added. “It motivates you during the offseason. We know we have what it takes to be the best, and it starts in Buffalo.”
Smith isn’t just focused on the Bills. He’s also marked Week 8 on his calendar — a matchup with his former team, the Chicago Bears.
“I’m really looking forward to that one,” he said. “I still know a lot of guys over there, and some friends are planning to be at the game. It’s going to be special.”
Smith left Chicago after failed contract talks led to his trade to Baltimore. Despite his continued friendships in the organization and city, he’s not holding back on the field.
“Every single player lined up across from me — whether it’s a center, a running back like D’Andre Swift, or a receiver — everyone gets dealt with,” Smith said.
While many players avoid bold predictions in the offseason, Smith isn’t holding back. He’s setting the tone for Baltimore’s 2025 campaign as the team’s vocal and emotional leader on defense.
