Josh Allen Ranked Top 5 in 2025 NFL Quarterback Power Rankings
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is once again being recognized as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks heading into the 2025 season. After a standout 2024 campaign where he earned NFL MVP honors, Allen’s performance solidified his place among the league’s elite.
In 2024, Allen showed significant improvement in protecting the ball, throwing only six interceptions. He also recorded a personal-best QBR of 77.3 and a passer rating of 101.4, the second-highest of his career. Alongside his passing success, Allen continued to be a major threat on the ground, rushing for over 500 yards for the fourth straight year and surpassing 10 rushing touchdowns for the second consecutive season.
Despite these accomplishments, CBS Sports ranked Allen fifth in its latest quarterback power rankings. They highlighted Allen’s efficiency and ability to adapt to a revamped receiving corps. However, they noted that, similar to Lamar Jackson, Allen has yet to overcome Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason — a hurdle that remains a key part of his legacy.
While Allen has shown he can beat Mahomes in the regular season, postseason success against Kansas City has eluded him. Still, with most of his offensive weapons returning, expectations remain high for Allen to lead Buffalo deep into the playoffs again in 2025.
Notably, Lamar Jackson was ranked fourth in the same list, a player Allen defeated in the playoffs — possibly giving Allen extra motivation heading into the new season. As the reigning MVP, Allen will undoubtedly be a focal point in the AFC race once more.
