Louisville Football Adds Two Transfers: Kendrick Gilbert and Sam Secrest
University of Louisville head football coach Jeff Brohm has announced the addition of two transfer players to the Cardinals roster: defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert and offensive lineman Sam Secrest.
Gilbert, who began his college career at Kentucky, joins the Cardinals after two seasons with the Wildcats. The 6-foot-5, 262-pound tackle recorded two tackles in his freshman season and followed with five tackles, including one for loss, across eight games in his second year. A former standout at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Gilbert was ranked as the No. 385 overall prospect nationally by the 247Sports Composite.
Secrest returns to Louisville after a year at Houston. He originally signed with the Cardinals in 2022 and saw limited action during the 2023 season, including snaps at center against Murray State and on special teams against Duke. In 2024, he appeared in two games for the Cougars before transferring back to Louisville. He is a graduate of Roncalli High School in Indianapolis.
With these additions, Louisville now has eight confirmed spring transfer signees, with tight end Davon Mitchell remaining the only unconfirmed newcomer.
