Duke Freshman Star Kon Knueppel Makes Public Appearance Amid NBA Draft Buzz
The Duke Blue Devils were considered strong contenders for the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball title, but their season ended abruptly with a dramatic loss to Houston in the Final Four. As the program looks ahead, it will do so with a significantly different roster.
Three standout freshmen — Cooper Flagg, Khaman Maluach, and Kon Knueppel — have all declared for the upcoming NBA Draft. While Flagg has attracted most of the media attention, Knueppel has quietly built a strong case as a top draft prospect.
Recently, Knueppel made a public appearance at American Family Field in his hometown of Milwaukee, where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch before a Brewers game against the Houston Astros. The 6-foot-7 guard is known for his versatility and elite shooting ability.
During the past season, Knueppel averaged 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting nearly 48% from the field and over 40% from beyond the arc. His impressive performance earned him All-ACC Second Team honors, a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team, and the MVP title at the ACC Tournament. He was also named Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball in 2024.
Analysts have drawn comparisons between Knueppel and NBA veterans like Chris Mullin and Jared Dudley, both known for their shooting prowess. As the NBA Draft approaches, Knueppel is projected to be selected early, solidifying his status as one of college basketball’s most promising young talents.
